2021 Training Practices Report

With respect to the pandemic, the 2021 MarTID survey was designed to uncover the challenges that have arisen and the industry’s response to those challenges, but also attempts to understand how those challenges and responses will permanently shape the future of maritime training.

2020 Training Practices Report

The2020 focus topic is “Quality in Training” and the report explores how the maritime community views the implementation of quality assurance systems in seafarer education and training.

2019 Training Practices Report

The 2019 Training Practices Report continues to track contemporary training issues, including issues regarding training operating budgets. In this report, a topical question concerning current and future trends regarding ship automation and autonomy was added.

2018 Training Practices Report

The first annual MarTID Report was developed with the intent of being a shared commitment to safe, efficient and sustainable operations in the maritime industry. It focuses on training done by maritime companies outside the context of shore-based education and training leading to STCW Certificates of Competencies. In other words, this report presents data on how operators continue to train their seafarers post-STCW certification, providing comprehensive data on how the industry manages and conducts training for shipboard competencies.
